How to Fix a Printer That Shows Offline

Step 1: Check Power and Cables:

Make sure the printer is turned on and all cables are properly connected. If it is wireless, confirm the Wi-Fi light is on.

Step 2: Set the Printer as Default

Go to your device’s printer settings and select the printer as the default printer. This helps your computer send jobs to the correct device.

Step 3: Verify the Connection:

For a wireless printer, make sure both the printer and your computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. For USB printers, unplug and reconnect the cable.

Step 4: Restart the Computer:

Restart your laptop or desktop to refresh the printer connection and system settings.

Step 5: Run a Test Print:

Print a test page to confirm the printer is back online and working properly.

Step 6: Clear the Print Queue

Delete stuck print jobs from the queue, then try printing again. A jammed queue can make the printer appear offline.
